Washington's Whiskey Sour

Chopping Down the Cherry Tree

In honor of President's Day and the birthday of our 1st President, George Washington, we present Washington's Whiskey Sour. George Washington was a man of his whiskey, and even had his own distillery. In 1799, Washington's distillery was the largest in America, producing 11,000 gallons of whiskey per year. We decided to put a George Washington twist on the traditional whiskey sour, and made a Cherry Whiskey Sour. Grab your ax and head out to the cherry tree!

Washington's Whiskey Sour:

  • 2/3 oz Light Rum
  • 2 oz Whiskey
  • 4-5 oz Sweet and Sour Mix
  • 1 splash Grenadine
  • 1/4 oz Grenadine
  • 2 cubes Cherry Ice Cubes

HOW TO:

24 hours before making this drink, pour water into ice cube tray and set 2-3 cherries in each cube. Set the tray in the freezer for 24 hours, then take a shot of whiskey to kill some time before the following day.

Once the ice cubes are completely frozen, pour the whiskey and sweet and sour mix into your cocktail shaker and give it a quick shake. Pull out ice cube tray from freezer and place 2 ice cubes in your glass. Pour the whiskey sour mix over the ice, then add a splash of grenadine to the cocktail. Enjoy!
