Peychaud's (pay-SHOHDS) bitters originated from a family recipe brought to America by Apothecary (pharmacist), Antoine Amedee Peychaud when he fled Haiti in 1795 and settled in New Orleans. He would often mix up a special brandy toddy according to his own recipe which used his private brand of bitters. This mixture later evolved into the Sazerac, a cocktail which many claim was the original cocktail. In July of 2008, the Sazerac legally became the official cocktail of New Orleans through Louisiana Legislator. Available in 10 oz and 5 oz bottles.
